Looking out of my window for nine days out of ten, you'd be forgiven for thinking that we were not in the first throes of Spring, it having officially started on 20 March. It has been wall-to-wall grey skies punctuated with rain, rain, rain, or snow, snow, snow for weeks on end, nay, months on end. Once in a very seldom blue moon, we have seen a strange yellow thing up in the sky, but it hasn't stuck around for long, preferring to hide behind the clouds for another few weeks or so. The thermometer seems to be stuck on single figures, mainly below 5 Centigrade and sometimes below zero. This last weekend has seen non-stop snow. With the wind-chill factor, these last few days have even seen icicles on the trees in my garden.
It may not be Spring outside, but I decided it was high time I did something about it: I treated myself to a bunch of flowers. Something I never do, normally. Now every time I enter the room, my spirits soar. It can do what it likes outside now. See if I care?

I love having fresh flowers in the house. There's something about them which is really cheering.
It's good to treat yourself every now and then!
I'm full of hope for springtime to come yet and I won't give up on it. Every cold day is one more we get over and done with. In a few weeks we will be walking around in our bare arms. xox
I love flowers in the house. I love plants in the house full stop. Marcia hates them. She says they attract mosquitos. Ah well.
I have spent the whole day under a blazing sun weeding my flower beds and getting rid of builders rubbish. I will be so glad when the build is finished!
I miss snow but I just know I would get there, spend five minutes walking around saying, 'How lovely' before realising I was bloody freezing.
I fill my house with daffs at this time of year. The best vase of sunshine and happiness ever.
Fabulous idea to buy flowers ... something I also seldom do. When I do buy them, then I often feel obliged to paint them ... so as not to waste them (!)...like these lilies http://wotansdaughter.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/lilies.html
I always buy flowers at this time of year - as most times - I think it's really important!
erm yes....you're having a white-out not an alcoholic haze daze.
Think of Autumn, you might get a bit of Spring by then.
Ok, call me daft, but I hadn't thought of that.
Blinking good idea!
PS. The person we were concerned about has commented on the post I wrote :)
Lush idea!
The sun here has been quite friendly - as in showing itself, but not its warmth; not that I am saying I am aware of spring (except for a few daffs and tulips beginning to thrust their leaves above the surface), but the possibility of better and warmer days is here...well, maybe...
