My husband died after a long struggle with alcoholism and I am making the slow climb back to normality.

Like Falling Off a Blog
I'm not sure why, but there is a distinct lack of blogging going on these days compared with past years. My favourite bloggers are producing less material and even I feel less inclined to blog these days. Is it the weather, other demands on our time, lack of enthusiasm, running out of steam, or what? Answers on a postcard, leave comments below, or tell me in a blog.
Not sure if my comment went through - the internet is definitely playing up today. What I said was something like I agree. I only have a quarter the number of readers these days.
I am blogging a lot less, mainly due to other demands on my time but also there seems to be less community in it these days. I've noticed many of my favourite people hardly blog at all now and that makes me less inclined as well. Blogging has also become very commercial, I think, and much more about video, which I'm not really embracing!
Yes I agree, I'm struggling to keep up my blog ... too many other things at the moment! But I do always enjoy it when I get round to posting - and always love reading yours. Don't stop!
I think that there seem to be pressures on people these days to do other things. I used to produce 3 posts a week and spend nearly every moment on blogging. Over the years, many of my original blogging friends started to dwindle away or gave up blogging suddenly. Unfortunately, some died. Even the new people who I've formed a good blogging relationship with have stopped or are very infrequent writers. My own situation has changed. I used to have my granddaughters living with me when they were smaller and there was always plenty to blog about...... funny incidences and things they said. Now the youngest is 12 and at secondary school and I have to respect privacy. No teenager likes to be talked about even when heavily disguised by pseudonyms. Nothing very interesting happens to me these days! Might blog about it. I do value all by readers...... Maggie x
Keep up blogging! I like the connections it makes. But I blog less than I did, probably because I have been confined to home for a while with a hip replacement but now I am out and about again, I'll have more blog fodder! Keep on blogging!
I've noticed the same Addy. I guess there are lots of different reasons for it. In my own case I'm still blogging but the posts are all in draft until I transfer photos from my camera- the tedious part. I think another thing is the rise of social media though as people spend so much time on it there is not a lot of time for much else.
I think you are absolutely right. I've been blogging for seven years, and I post just as much as I've always done, but I don't get anything like the same number of page views as I once did, and hardly anyone comments on any of my posts. I posted this lament on the subject a year ago.
I welcome your comments, but please note I cannot speak every language under the sun, especially Japanese or Chinese, so there is no point leaving a message unless it is in English or German. It will otherwise be deleted. Thank you.
Funny, I was only thinking the same thing myself the other day... and I miss the old days of almost daily cyber-conversations!
ReplyDeleteIt is true, my lot has definitely dwindled. Time on line has now reduced to a quarter what it was.

ReplyDeleteI think yes there's so much other stuff like Facebook, twitter and everything else on social media. Shame...!
