Mother and daughter

Kay came back home from uni yesterday for the summer vacation. Fourteen glorious weeks stretch ahead together. I shall savour them and soak up the good it will do me which will have to last me through her next absence until Christmas. With her home only 24 hours, I realise just how starved of human company I had been this last year with only the dog, cat , paintbrush and television to talk to!

I have already done three washloads of dirty washing (well, she was busy doing exams up until a few days ago,so had no time for the niceties of domestic chores) and we are off shopping today to get, amongst other things, a new pair of wellies, as she has got a job working at Glastonbury this coming week. Once she is back from that we are planning a short escape to a place I have always wanted to go all my life, but never managed. Bless her, she planned (and paid for it) for my 60th birthday last November and it is now an arm's length from becoming reality. I am so excited.

Last night we sat in bed and chatted and giggled until 2 am like a couple of five-year-olds on a sleepover. I am in seventh heaven.........

What a lovely picture you've painted there. And I'm so curious to know where you are going!

I remember the dirty laundry days when my son returned from uni - but that was no matter as I had my son back.

You paint a lovely picture of the both of you chatting away and giggling and I am so pleased you are in seventh heaven.

I am intrigued as to where you are going too. My dream to visit the Eden Project will come to fruition in August - can't wait!

My real dream is to visit the Gallapagos (not sure of the spelling there) Islands and/or the Easter Islands. You never know, one day...

I don't know why but this post made me cry and yet it is so happy. Perhaps I flash forwarded a few years to doing that with my own daughter and that fact that I have never done that with my own mother. You expressed this all so well. Do enjoy and please share where you are going with us when it happens :)

Have a great time on your break and I can't wait to hear all about it.

I am so genuinely pleased, The Company and the giggles will be brilliant. Wow working at Glastonbury best of both worlds, get paid and get to see all the bands etc. With the weather like it is wellies will be order of the day methinks. I remember many many years ago now, sloshing about in the mud at Glastonbury Festival, and having my boyfriend's car towed out by a tractor. So I shall keep my bendy fingers crossed that the sun will shine just for Kay.

I am so very pleased that you are going away to a special place. I hope you have a brilliant time.

My daughter lives at home whilst attending uni, its a long story so I won't bore! However, she is just about to go away for a couple of weeks and boy I am looking forward to some peace. So you and I will be the same in emotion when she returns as I will miss her! Right now she has just woken me up getting home and its 2am so she is not my favourite person right now.

Do I remember you writing last year of Kay going to a concert and you were fretting so or did I dream that? Its amazing how as our girls become adults in a relatively short space of time, we stop worrying so much about stuff.

I also am absolutely dying of curiosity to know where you are going. But totally understand if you would prefer it to remain your private space. I just hope you have a great time.
