Greg's Birthday

It would have been Greg's 61st birthday this week. I did not fancy the prospect of spending the day agonising over what might have been and, as one of my two close friends is holidaying in Cuba and the other is otherwise engaged taking her mother to a hospital appointment, I decided to distract myself by visiting my mother for a week, as it is high time I got on with her gardening and other chores. All this early hot weather we have been enjoying has made the plants and shrubs go berserk. Mine are doing this at the moment.......

The weather has been glorious this last couple of weeks and has lifted my spirits; so too has a steady stream of people visiting me. Apart from the ex-neighbours who came the previous weekend, I had a surprise visitor midweek from a friend whose son used to play with Kay when she was about 3 to 7. They would run around the garden, playing in fancy dress or slide down slides or swing or swings. Now Kay is training to be a doctor and he is a promising rockstar with waist-length hair and a bandana. I can remember him singing his heart out at the kindergarten nativity play! How the years roll by. Yesterday my best friend (the one who is not in Cuba) and her husband came to see me. We had a marvellous day together and I was sorry to wave them off again. I'm off now for a week to visit my mum, so until then...............

Hi Addy,

I hope you enjoy your time with your mum and equally hope you get some good weather while there. Glad to read you are still seeing some old faces. That must bring back a lot of good memories.

All the best

Hi Addy,
Your mother is lucky indeed to have her daughter visit for the week as well as an avid gardener to boot! From the look of the weather forecast the good weather is set to look to continue, so no doubt on your return home the gardening will continue.

Take care and its good to hear from you.

I do hope you enjoy your week with your mum Addie. A good idea to plan to do something positive when difficult anniversaries are ahead. Do hope this glorious weather continues - it does lift the spirits, doesn't it. Look forward to hearing about your week when you return. A x

Have a lovely time away. Hopefully the weather will stay this fine all week. I'm off to tackle my grass this morning while my dogs look lazily at me from the patio.

I'm wondering about getting them little harnesses so that they can pull the lawn mower around while I sip tea........ Ok, maybe not.

Enjoy your week :0)

What a positive post.

The past is the past and the future is the future the only thing you can influence is the now.

You are lucky to have such good friends as well.

Hope your visit to your Mum goes well and best wishes all round.

The reason (I think) that people wore black for a year in Victorian times was because that's about how long it takes. (Queen Victoria was an extreme example). This time next year the garden will be looking even better.

I'm so glad you're being social. I think community is critical during times of loss. God bless Addy.

Hope you have an enjoyable stay with your mother and that the good weather will continue whilst you are there. Good friends certainly lift us through the tough times and become all the more valued for it. Take care. Dx

Hi Addy, hope the gardening helps to clear your mind! Don't forget to put suncream on your face as otherwise you might look a bit "ruddy!" (only speaking from experience of course!)

Hoping that the weather stays nice while you're at your mum's :)

That is something I wanted to hear quite badly.

Enjoy yourself and say hi to Mumsy from across the pond.
