It's very rare to see a character with such magnetism come out of the blue and inspire people so much. This is one of those special moments we won't forget!

Laurie - yes, I was very moved by Jesse Jackson crying too. I thought Obama's speech to the crowd last night was very good and brought a lump to my throat - and I am not even American! I bet his daughters are looking forward more to their new puppy than the thought of moving to the White House!

A great day for us all. I was very moved by his speech and in tears for most of it. Believe he will give us all hope. A x

It's fab...and means I can cross the US off my list of 'Axis of terror'. Let's hope that the reality matches the hope!

Here in GB, his speeches reminded me of JFK's (yes, I'm terribly old). What an articulate, eloquent man, so calm and collected all the time. I hope he does a lot for the United States. A lot is needed in these awful times. And needed not just by the US but by the rest of us who are so affected by America's activities.

He did of course speak in generalities and one couldn't discover what specific actions he is going to take when he becomes President. But then that gives him latitude when the need to move comes. A clever politician!

Inspiring and uplifting for us all. Just hope he can live up to his packaging . . . Fingers crossed.
